The Beast of Atlantic Avenue is the first episode of Virus.
Synopsis[]
One private eye, one string of murders, and one beast under Atlantic Avenue.
Plot[]
Curiosity Kills[]
We see a woman and her young daughter walking down the nighttime streets of Brooklyn. They are in a wide, dirty alleyway, highlighted by street lights. The little girl is amazed. She stares up at the tall skyscrapers. Her mother tells her daughter- Katie- about how those skyscrapers are nothing compared to Manhattan's. Her mother tells her that even though Brooklyn isn't as flashy, it was either named after her or she was named after the city. The woman- Brooklyn- and Katie continue to walk. They turn a corner and walk onto the next street. The camera zooms in on the green street sign- reading "Atlantic Avenue". We them walking and Katie trips on a rock and falls onto her knees. Pounding, dark music begins to play/ Brooklyn stops and asks if she is okay. Katie says she is. Katie is sitting right next to a manhole. Brooklyn helps Katie up, and as that happens, Katie hears a metallic ding that stops the music. Katie lets go of her mother's hand and turns towards the manhole and stares at it. Katie looks fearful. Brooklyn asks her what is wrong. Katie doesn't respond. The mother says Katie's name sharply. Katie leans down and presses her palm against the manhole. Suspenseful music plays, but at the climax it is disrupted by another Metallica sound. The sound scares Katie and she lets go and jumps back. Her mother grabs her hand, but Katie pulls away. There is no music playing. Katie sticks her index finger in the small hole in the manhole. We see a shot underneath the manhole. All we see is darkness until Katie's finger slides into view. We see a shot in the darkness of a shadowed pale face with glowing white eyes extend an arm upwards. We see the pale arm extending upward, with an extended index finger, a jagged fingernail on its end. The arm is reaching towards Katie's finger. We see a close shot of them touching and then the scene cuts to Katie yank her finger out while screaming.
Intro Credits []
We see different shots of Brooklyn and Cobble Hill tunnel, and Atlantic Avenue and its sign. The shots are separated by camera flashes, and the shot themselves are distorted and grainy. We see the manhole, perched open with white eyes inside, and a shot of long, pale fingers crossed over each other with blood dripping down them from above. We then get a shot of a white-irised eye, the pupil dilating. This ominous intro credit scene is set behind "One Two, Buckle My Shoe". Once it reaches nineteen, twenty it heavily implies that Virus is awake because his plate is empty. The names shown in the credits are Jensen Ackles, Krysten Ritter, with Christian Bale.
