Object Lookout: The Christmas Special is a 2028 American animated absurdist Christmas-themed comedy television special directed by Warren Goldblatt, who previously directed some 18 episodes on the series Object Lookout, which based on the series created by John Lorick Ignacio. The television special features stars Scarlett Johannson, Wes Studi, Samuel L. Jackson, Nikki Amuna-Bird, Aya Cash, Olga Kurylenko, Rupert Friend, Andy Samberg, Abby Ryder Fortson, Asim Chaudhry, Ben Mendelsohn, Angus Sampson, Norman Reedus, and Gabriel LaBelle. It is a screenplay written by John Lorick Ignacio and Kevin Porter who co-wrote the story with Goldblatt, Perla Fandez and Samuel Jacinto. The television special was featured the place of object show city in the 2030s where the anthropomorphic objects takes place at their house to spend a holiday weekend to see the story of LorickCircle in the fictional book narrated by the character Jackson. It also features one and only sequences to received a specific inspired by Ignacio's dream after the events of the first film and the sequel itself. The television special is being considered as "short film" as Ignacio giving the idea of the television special in success of the theatrical film and its sequel, demanding a fellow secret in participation of the television series being label on episode to be "89" in located of the holiday spend on the refresh budget in the house for it.
Also features Brian Drummond (who voiced LorickCircle in tv series) and Phil LaMarr (who voiced Tophat and Telephone in tv series) voiced Sharpener (LorickCircle's neighbour friend) and Laptop Bag (Laptop's old friend) in a specific cameo appearance with Taylour Paige, Ayo Edebiri and Moses Sumney voiced new characters alongside Chaudhry, Sampson, Reedus and LaBelle. After success of the second theatrical film, Ignacio discovered the television special is announced in 2027 on December following the announcement of 2028 Comic Con in San Diego. Animation on the television special was made by Rough Draft Korea and Adobe Animate involving the cast from the film returned alongside Drummond and LaMarr's return to have a different role. It is a first television special to be events in the theatrical film. The television special is being aired on NBC in December 25, 2028, coincluded on the traditional Christmas day. And also streaming in Netflix exclusively on January 4, 2029. The television special was being positive reviews from critics, who praised Studi and Johannson's voice performances, excessive themes, and comedic aspect but the screenplay and pacing being criticized.
