Danny Rand is the titular protagonist of Iron Fist Season Two, Iron Fist, and one of four main characters in The Defenders. He is portrayed by Finn Jones.

Danny Rand was the only child born to billionaires Wendell and Heather Rand- the owners of Rand Enterprises alongside Harold Meachum. Wendell discovered The Hand operating from within the company and disguised a confrontation with Madame Gao in China as a family vacation. However; Madame Gao made a deal with Harold Meachum to poison the pilots in exchange for Harold taking over the company and laying down himself as a possession of The Hand. The pilots were poisoned and the plane began to crash over the Himalayas. Young Danny was the lone survivor and retained PTSD. The orphaned Danny was left in the snow and was rescued by monks from K'un Lun. They took him in an trained him within the Order of the Crane Mother. During this time, Danny trained under Lei Kung, and befriend Lei's son, Davos. Danny trained in kung fu and became one of the best warriors. Danny challenged the dragon, Shao Lao The Undying and plunged his hands into the dragon's molten heart, gaining the power of the Iron Fist. This angered Davos, who felt that he should have been the Iron Fist. Danny was the first outsider Iron Fist. Danny served as the Iron Fist and protected K'un Lun, but when he realized he could leave K'un Lun and return to New York, he left without a word and ventured to Canada where he got a fake passport as "John Anderson".
Iron Fist Season One[]
Danny used his passport to return to New York where he attempted to meet with Harold Meachum, who was like an uncle to him. Danny was distraught when he found out Harold died of cancer and the company was being run by his childhood friends, Ward and Joy Meachum- Harold's children. Danny was rejected by his former friends as they didn't believe he was who he said he was. This landed him in a mental hospital and the drugs they gave him there shut down his chi. When he was beat enough by other inmates, his chi returned and he escaped the hospital. He met with Jerri Hogarth- a former Rand employee and now a lawyer. She used an old art project to prove that Danny was who he said he was. Before his identity was cleared, Danny was homeless in Soho and befriended dojo owner Coleen Wing.
