Alistair Smythe is the wheelchair-bound head of the security company Anvil. He appears in 50 State Initiative and Punisher Season 3. He is portrayed by Tom Bateman.
Biography[]
Alistair Smythe was a United States Air Force Colonel who's spine was twisted in a suit of experimental armor, rendering Alistair paralyzed from the waist down. The armor was the next step in Project Falcon with the new suit being made to be like a human bullet with propellers fitted to the back of the ankle to propel the user. While the Falcon equipment Sam Wilson used was designed for pararescue, this model was designed for paratroopers dropping into enemy territory as the suit was bullet resistant and contained night vision and cutting edge mapping software. The suit's wrists were built in stripper-clip fed guns that work like the ones on the Assassin Suit used by Spider-Man in an alternate universe.
The suit was in a prototype stage but was rushed through production as it was needed on the front lines. Alistair went into combat with it but his propellers were shot out by a flak gun and since the propellers are linked to a device locked onto the back, the propellers failing caused a ripple effect that crushed Alistair's spine. Alistair survived but suffered paralysis.
Trivia[]
- Alistair's extreme arachnophobia and his armor are reference to his comic-book role as a notable Spider-Man villain.
- Alistair's existence ties up the mystery of who's spine was crushed in experimental armor in Doctor Strange.
- The propellers on Alistair's suit are identical the extra arms on his comic-book armor. The rest of the suit is the Spider-Armor from the Marvel's Spider-Man video game but with a dark grey replacing the black on the suit.
